Saw Shob Charitra Kalponik (starring Prosenjit and Bipasha). Felt good after watching the movie - it’s a lot different than what Rituporno was churning out in the last few years. It’s the story of a poet and his wife, who was initially contemplating divorce because of the irresponsible ways of her husband but falls in love with him after his premature death. Most people I spoke to thought it was a ‘ typically aantel chobi’ and hence trashy but I think it was a beautiful collage of poems, songs , picturesque frames and great cinematography. I don’t understand why people always have to dissect a film – always trying to look for an ‘inner meaning’ (whatever that means!) . Somebody actually told me “as a literature student (???) I totally understand how she(the wife) identifies with Kajori(the muse) , but I still think its trash”. As if that’s the only focal point of the entire film - hello??? What about the poems? What about the beautiful shots?? Like its become fashionable to say “I
